We are excited to share some great news! Our environmental-focused partner project, in partnership with participants from Lithuania, Iceland, Hungary, Poland, and Turkey, has been approved by the Lithuanian National Agency!


The main goal of our project is to raise awareness among young people about climate change and pollution, encourage them to take an active role in combating these issues, and provide them with skills for environmental sustainability. Additionally, we aim to strengthen intercultural cooperation and foster collaboration among the participants.


Through this project, participants will have the opportunity to advocate for eco-friendly policies and engage with local communities, all while contributing to a more sustainable future.


With this initiative, we aim not only to raise awareness of environmental challenges but also to build stronger international solidarity through cultural exchange.

The importance of raising awareness about food waste stems from the fact that it contributes to solving many environmental, economic and social problems at both individual and global levels. Here are the main reasons we should pay attention to this issue:


  • Large amounts of water, energy and natural resources are used in the process of food production, processing and transport. Every wasted food causes these resources to be wasted. Food waste also accumulates in landfills and releases greenhouse gases such as methane, which accelerates climate change. Awareness raises awareness of the damage we are doing to the environment and helps us understand the steps we can take to protect nature.


  • While 1 in 9 people worldwide do not have access to enough food, large amounts of food are wasted, exacerbating this imbalance. Preventing food waste is vital to better distribute these resources and fight hunger.


  • Food waste means serious economic losses for individuals and societies. Every food we buy but do not consume is money wasted in our personal budget. In addition, at the level of countries, wasted food leads to reduced economic efficiency and wasted resources. Awareness contributes to both individual and national economies by reducing wastage.


  • Food production uses large amounts of water, agricultural land and energy. Every wasted food leads to the waste of these limited natural resources. Awareness contributes to a more sustainable use of these resources and ensures that we leave a more livable world for future generations.


  • Preventing food waste not only meets our needs today, but also ensures that future generations can meet their needs. Given problems such as climate change, resource depletion and population growth, developing conscious consumption habits is essential for a sustainable future.


  • Preventing food waste contributes to a fairer distribution of resources around the world. When there are millions of people without access to sufficient food, wasting becomes an ethical problem. Raising awareness on this issue helps us fulfil our social and human responsibilities.


Food waste is a major problem at both individual and global level. Reducing waste through awareness helps to use the world's resources efficiently, minimise damage to the environment and fight hunger more effectively.





Our project named Harvesting Hope: Tackling Food Waste with reference number 2024-1-IS01-KA152-YOU-000227481 aims to combat food waste, raise awareness and contribute to the prevention of food waste.


With the activities, while drawing attention to the environmental, economic and social effects of food waste, it is aimed to popularise sustainable consumption habits. At the same time, participants will be encouraged to cooperate with different cultures by contributing to their personal development.


Participant groups of 8 people from Iceland, Turkey, Portugal, Croatia, Czech Republic and Portugal will be involved in the project to be realised in Selfoss, Iceland.
